Five Pillars of Support

Health & Resilience

Whole-person wellbeing — physical, mental, and emotional. We connect veterans to healthcare, behavioral health, peer support, and recovery resources, building the resilience to face the challenges that follow service and to thrive long after.

UVAN Definition

Health and resilience for veterans and their families means having the capacity, support, and stability to meet physical, mental, and emotional demands over time — not just in moments of crisis, but throughout daily life. It recognizes that service experiences, transitions, and stressors can affect the whole family, and that long-term wellbeing depends on consistent access to quality care, early support, and strong coping skills.

For veterans, health and resilience include the ability to maintain physical health, manage stress, address behavioral health needs, and seek help without stigma. For families, it means having the knowledge, resources, and support systems to navigate changes, support recovery, and maintain healthy relationships.

UVAN strengthens health and resilience by connecting veterans and families to coordinated healthcare, behavioral health, peer support, and crisis resources, and by fostering partnerships that reduce barriers to care. Through navigation, education, and collaboration, UVAN helps ensure veterans and their families are equipped not just to recover, but to adapt, perform, and thrive together.
